  7.     As a high school dropout, France's VANESSA PARADIS was
  8. unsure of her career direction, so she decided to try two. So
  9. far both are working out. Earlier this year the stunning
  10. femme-enfant was named her country's top female pop singer, and
  11. a few weeks later won France's equivalent of an Oscar for her
  12. role as a drug addict in Noce Blanche. Paradis, 17, intends to
  13. pursue both paths for now. After all, "a lot of girls are
  14. served on a silver platter one day and dropped the next."
